The purpose of a water temp gauge is to show the temperature of the coolant in the engine which should read between 100 to 300 Fahrenheit. A water temp gauge should be installed in your car to track your engine’s temperature and prevent overheating. Most engines work fine at about 200°F. Anything more than 220°F can severely damage the engine and head of your car. The following is the process for safely installing the water temp gauge in your car.

Believe it or not, an old analog temperature gauge is not as precise as a digital water temperature gauge. A digital water temperature gauge gives you the exact readings. Since the gauge is totally digital and there is no dependency or involvement with the weight of the arms, the readings are far more exact. In the case of an analog water temperature gauge, if the hands of the gauge loosen or get messed up it will not provide a proper reading. When traveling at a high-velocity it is difficult to read the exact measurement on an analog gauge.
