These are top-of-the-line digital speedometer gauges come with either a bright blue or red LED display.  The LED is auto-dimming for night time driving, but bright and shows large numbers, even under direct sunlight.  The truck speedometer gauge come with either a black or chrome bezel.

Speedometers have an interesting history and mechanics. The first speedometer was invented in 1888 by Josip Belusic from Croatia, and actually named a velocimeter. They were first seen in automobiles in the 1900’s and then became standard a decade later. Modern electronic speedometer sensors are installed on the rear of the truck transmission. The sensor is a flat metal plate with serrations placed between a helix and a sensor that reads magnetic fields. The serrations move between the helix and sensor creating a magnetic the field. The pulse of the magnetic field is turned into a speed reading and sent along to the digital speedometer gauge.

Odometers record the distance traveled by a truck over the lifetime of the vehicle. They can be both mechanical and electronic.  The Teltek USA gauge is an electronic digital truck odometer gauge. The mechanic gauges show numbers on six to seven wheels, each wheel having 0 through 9 imprinted on them. The lowest digit in the U.S.A. is usually tenths of a mile, while the highest digit is either tens of thousands, or on newer diesel trucks, hundreds of thousands. Modern electric odometers are much more difficult to tamper with, as compared with their mechanical counterparts. All new odometers add mileage driven in reverse to the vehicle total. A truck needs an odometer gauge if it is ever to be resold, so the Teltek USA digital speedometer gauges come with one.

A trip meter, or trip odometer, is like an odometer, but it can be reset at anytime by the truck owner. Trip meters are sometimes utilized to calculate gas mileage at different truck loads, or to record mileage for mileage reimbursements by trucking clients. When following directions that indicate miles between actions, a trip meter can help indicate when the next action will occur. For these reasons, a the trip meter is included on the digital semi speedometer gauge.
